I was blessed with 5 kids by the age of twenty five, even though I was using every drug known to man.
I can still remember the drive to the church. I was high on heroin drinking a can of coconut water.
My parole paperwork labeled me a “menace to society” and “incorrigible and hopeless.”
The questions start flooding my mind. How did I get here? Once the fog lifts, reality starts to set in…. I’ll be here awhile.
My 18 year old son had told me I was the only one who could repair what I had damaged.
Our son missed seeing and connecting with his dad and it broke my heart when I had to explain to him, “Daddy couldn’t make it today, but that is not your fault”.
“He used to steal my make-up and clothes to give
to other women… Duck overdosed in our house twice.” -Duck’s Wife
I had lost respect for myself. I lost my home several times and at one point almost lost my life.
My addiction became second nature and I knew nothing else after seven years of methamphetamine use.
